OBSTACLE
FREE

In recent years, it has become increasingly challenging for visually impaired and blind individuals to navigate the sidewalk safely due to obstacles like scooters, (cargo) bikes, parking signs, and garbage obstructing the sidewalks.

CONTEXT

OBSTAKELVRIJ (OBSTACLE-FREE) is a project initiated by Markgrave vzw, with support from the Citizen Budget of District Antwerp. The project collaborates with the community to find solutions for creating more accessible sidewalks.

RESULT

By using humor and relatable scenarios, these videos aim to spark conversations about sidewalk accessibility and highlight the importance of removing obstacles that hinder safe movement for visually impaired individuals.

Two humorous videos to illustrate these accessibility issues. The first video features a blind person wielding a lightsaber to clear obstacles from the sidewalk. The second video places common street obstructions—such as trash bags and bicycles—within a home setting, emphasizing how these obstructions can make navigating even simple spaces nearly impossible.
